Stand Ki Aankh Aasmaa song out

After the release of foot-tapping tracks Udta Teeter and Womaniya, Saand Ki Aankh's third song Aasmaa is hitting the right chords, all thanks to legendary singer Asha Bhosle's melodious voice. Tasmania features Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in their older avatars as Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, supporting their daughters in winning the gold medal in sharpshooting.

What makes Aasmaa different from the previous two tracks is that the new number not only features Taapsee and Bhumi, but it also introduces their daughters and their struggles in dealing with the inherent patriarchy in society. And Asha Bhosle crooning to "aasmaa uncha hai meri, tu hi choo Lena..." aptly describes their hardships. Asha's last was in the Vidya Balan-starrer Beghum Jaan in 2017. Therefore, to have her back after two years makes it extra special.

Taapsee and Bhumi, who are essaying the sexagenarian sharpshooters in Anurag Kashyap's production Saand Ki Aankh, are seen motivating their daughters in the recently released song, Asmaa.

The video begins with Taapsee saying, "Jaan laga ke kosis karna, ek mauka hai, khaali ni jaan dena laado. Thaara ek mint, is gaaon ki har ek chori ki aage ki zindagi tay karega."

This is followed by Bhumi's dialogue. She says, "Yo matka phir se bharna hai, aur baby, gold gold gold."

The next frame in the song shows their daughters worshipping them as they get ready to join the sports academy to win the gold medal. Taapsee and Bhumi bless them in return.

In one hard-hitting scene in the 2-minute-55-second video, Prakash Jha's character Ratan Singh is seen snatching the medal from Taapsee's neck, leaving her in shock.

UP govt to continue with services of home guards

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday decided to continue with the services of all home guards personnel who were removed from duty. "In view of the coming festival season, the present arrangement of deployment of home guards will continue as before," a government order issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avinesh Awasthi said. Their payment will be made from the budget of the Home Department and till the fund permits, the order said. The order follows an assurance given by state Home Guard Minister Chetan Chauhan that no home guard would be removed. The state government had on October 15 announced that it was doing away with 25,000 home guards as it could not afford the new allowances the Supreme Court had asked it to pay, only to reverse it hours later, saying no one would be removed.
